the DIY Alex Spiderlight
My friend Udi over at DIYPhotography.net has a great post on Alex Campagna’s DIY Spiderlight. If you are into DIY studio lighting this is a must-see. I had made a duplicate post on the Spiderlight but I consider DIYPhotography.net THE resource for DIY information collected from around the net, so I’d like to let Udi tell you the details…
I’m pulling out a bonus video to add another entry to today’s blog, to follow shortly (11:30 a.m. EST)

You wasted my time with the lame antique photo video. What a waste to combine it with a great DIY project.
Not a good way to build traffic to this site.
Strike one !!
D.Sr., sorry about the video, it definitely was lame (how to make all the money you want in photography)…but I thought it was a “funny” lame. I can see, though, that it shouldn’t have been paired with the DIY piece, that was too much information. As a result I pulled the video and will possibly revisit EZphotoCash another day when it fits better.
Thanks for your input, I always need to know what things look like “from the other side of the fence”.

Hi Jim,
Thanks for pointing out Alex’s blog! I almost bought two Spiderlights a few weeks ago, and now I’m getting excited about just building my own instead.
Alex had a follow-up blog on building a DIY softbox. He covered his with a white cotton sheet. I told him that I’ve used white shower curtains before quite successfully on home-made softboxes. Since you have recommended them for diffusion panels, I was wondering how well do you think a Rosco Cinegel #3026 Filter sheet would work for this? Do think it would stand up well with the heat? (Not that a cotton sheet or shower curtain are best in that regard either though!)
Thanks,
Terry
